Out through WAKAAN as their debut record on the label is ‘Bugs,’ the brand new EP from Canadian bass crusaders Pigeon Hole. Having met as children and shared a mutual love for rap and hip-hop, they went on to become skilled as DJs, MCs and producers, dropping their first album ‘Age Like Astronauts’ in 2010.

Since their underground beginnings, they made a transition into electronic music in 2013 with the ‘Chimp Blood’ LP, hitting on elements of dubstep and trap. They champion their multi-genre sound as accessible; “We push the boundaries of our sound, but we want it to be approachable. If people can't get into it, it’s not going to be fun for anyone.”

After playing shows like Shambhala, Burning Man and Coachella they have earned global acclaim – and artists like Bassnectar and Minnesota are among their supporters. From releasing the ‘Invasion’ EP on the latter’s Outer Realms label, they find themselves on WAKAAN, armed with four new tracks in what they consider “our skewed version of a dubstep sci-fi soundtrack.”

The cavernous ‘Skeleton’ sets the scene with creeping intensity before its grinding bass sets in. The title track’s essence is utterly menacing and all encompassing, with the guys saying: "We wanted BUGS to have that evil empire vibe. Storm Troopers marching en masse. L-A-S-E-R-S. Wubs that scrunch faces like angry troll dolls."

They go on to add: "We made the track. Trashed it. Remade it. Trashed it again. We weren't even sure it would go off until we tried it out live. Sometimes you just need a test drive..."

‘Hackles’ comes to life with juddering rhythms and warped, meandering riffs – going strong on the builds for maximum impact on the drop.

The EP is brought to a triumphant close by means of ‘Worldwide.’ Here Pigeon Hole serves up slow-burning heat, with chopped vocal snatches and rolling washes of bass to pull everything together.

Marking a key chapter in their constantly developing artist profile, Pigeon Hole deliver on all fronts with ‘Bugs.’
