The brainchild of two passionate musicians, beardthug comes together to bend the preconceived notions of genre. Musically, Seamus & Mallek hail from polar opposite sides of the spectrum. This dynamic has set the stage for an inversely proportional vibe when it comes to production and performance.
Forming in Providence, RI in early 2016, beardthug has supported shows nationwide for tastemakers like Caspa,Funtcase, Hatcha, Pretty Lights, Cookie Monsta, ill.Gates, Yheti, Tsuruda, GTA, Borgore, Flamingosis, and a butt load of others that won’t even fit into their bio. With releases on Jantsen’s Kairos Audio, Minnesota’s OuterRealms, Mallabel Music, Circus Records and Street Ritual, Mallek and Seamus truly show their knack for a magnitude of musical diversity. With a consistent output of audio/visual content, beardthug can’t help but resonate the true nature of their purpose, to make art that breaks the boundaries of modern conformity.
"Pareidolia could be referred to as glitch in the matrix of the human condition. It's the tendency for the brain to incorrectly perceive patterns in otherwise inanimate objects or mediums. This stimulates parts of your brain to trick you into seeing or hearing something you know, perhaps the likeness to a face in the woodgrain of a door or even a hidden meaning behind a pattern of music. Each song on this album will be perceived differently by every person that hears it, because we all have a slightly different auditory physiology, and we've all grown up with our own hardships and problems. This is important, music should be individually interpreted and cherished for reasons decided by the observer. In the past my perception of a song has changed over the course of time to mean different things. It's pretty neat to think that others may experience the same with our music." - beardthug
