about
Long-time friends G-REX and Sully have teamed up for their first collaboration, “Clique.” Both artists have acknowledged a track together as long overdue, as they initially clicked while attending school at Western Michigan University. These midwest products are now ready to flex their polished production chops with their bass-heavy collab. “Clique” is out via Liquid Stranger’s WAKAAN imprint on December 6th.
Making smart use of G-REX and Sully’s signature wobbly sounds, “Clique” fires on all cylinders. WAKAAN diehards and fans of both G-REX and Sully will be enticed by the low frequency, minimalistic drop and distorted vocal sample. Described best as subtly hard-hitting, “Clique” is a welcome addition to both artist’s arsenals and will be sneaking its way into sets around the globe in no time.
Although the origins of G-REX can be dated back to 2015, 2018 was certainly a breakout year for Detroit native producer, Jake Sweeney. As he worked to perfect his brand of high energy trap and bass fused with sinister dubstep sound design, he honed in on a deep dark sound that has become a recognizable signature in his music and earned him the respect and support of leaders in the scene. In September 2018 he released one of the biggest bass music tracks of the year, “Babatunde,” as a collaboration with friend and fellow bass music phenom, PEEKABOO, on Liquid Stranger’s record label, WAKAAN. He has since released two solo EPs, a remix EP including an almost equally well-received VIP of “Babatunde,” collaborations with Ghastly, YOOKiE, and TYNAN, and most recently an official remix for Excision. While many continue to regurgitate the same stale sounds, G-REX is here to usher in a new era of cold-blooded bass.
Los Angeles based artist Chris "Sully" Sullivant is the next rising talent making waves in the bass music scene with his dark, yet melodic approach to producing. Sully has spent the last year pioneering his musical identity at Icon Collective. While attending Icon, Sully was recruited to work on KSHMR’s latest sample pack “Sounds of KSHMR Vol. 3” and was named Student of the Year in his class. In March 2019, Sully released his debut single 'Frequency Shift’, which has accumulated more than 100,000 plays and caught the attention of the bass music community for its unique, hard-hitting melodic bass grooves. Sully followed up his debut single with the releases of ‘Coast to Coast’ and ‘Quake’ which have resonated a positive response to Sully’s arrival. Now that he is graduated and sitting on more music than ever, Sully is emerging from the shadows and into the spotlight as one of bass music’s most promising new producers.

This EP was my introduction to both Truth and DDD, and also the release that sparked my deep interest for the oldschool sound of dubstep. S/o to The Dub Rebellion for their upload of "Devils Game" - been a huge fan of Truth and this label ever since. So happy to have snagged the 12" as well, makes it all even more special owning a physical copy of it ♡ ECCENTRIC VIBRATION
